Hello and welcome to Trashlamp
I’m Louise and I live in North West England where I create and sell eco-friendly lampshades, jewellery, artworks and other gift items.
Throughout my life I have collected waste materials with the idea to reuse them in someway. There is no eco-friendly way to get rid of plastic. Landfill, incineration and recycling are all hazardous. The only sustainable option for the time being is to reuse it. I love experimenting with discarded plastic bottles, working out measurements and cutting them up to create geometrical shapes that can be hung as lampshades.
As I progressed I started using more and more plastic so I had to start expanding my sources as I don’t drink milk. Now thanks to neighbours and a small local business I have a steady supply. I also use other materials that are being thrown away such as fabric remnants and charity shop goodies. Rescuing items destined for a landfill site or even worse as pollution, to be used again, is a very rewarding career and I feel so blessed to be able to do this.

I have always enjoyed creating earrings and other jewellery items. When I started using upcycled plastic I found it very rewarding and I wanted to share my work with the world. It’s fun to create something so small and delicate after working large scale. I find that each size inspires the other design. Alternating between the dimensions gives me ideas for lots more items to make. I will be adding these to the website in the future.
FAQ
Each item is built to last and with minimal TLC it will be around for more than a lifetime. An occasional dusting with a light feather duster should keep your light looking bright and clean. For splashes or stains wipe with a damp cloth and leave to dry before use.
Yes, if you have any kind of fabric that you think would be suitable then it could be incorporated into the design to your specification.

For Europe, the US and the rest of the world it will be calculated at the checkout.
For jewellery items and lampshades in stock I will despatch within 1 to 2 days. You should receive it in the next 3 to 4 working days. If the lampshade is made to order this would normally take up to 2 weeks for a small lampshade and up to 4 weeks for a large one. I will keep you informed of the progress.
Most accidental damage can be repaired for a small fee depending on the extent, please contact me with the details.
